April Meeting Notes

Happy Spring BMMC!

🄳New Members 🄳- new member Jeff Cordey who joined after the Poker Run, but lots of guests.  SoCal visitors with Betsy & Alan.  Brian and Kathy along with Wiz.

šŸ€March Review šŸ€- 69 at the breakfast meeting and 42 at the dinner social.Ā  The 15th Saturday ride to the Copper Corridor.Ā  19 riders met on this chilly morning around the city and down through Apache Junction and down to Miami for lunch. Unfortunately Chuck testy steed broke down on the ride but Wayne stayed with Chuck until the tow came to scoop him up.Ā  Way to go Wayne!!Ā  A reminder to all, it is important that if you change your RSVP for a ride that you do so in advance not at the last minute.

šŸ’April 🌹- on the 12th we have the first overnight to Tombstone & Sierra Vista.Ā  Right now we are about 38 riders ready to embark on this adventure. If you are coming please note that the 101 has a closure so we recommend allowing a little more time and changing your route to make sure you are on time.Ā  If you would like to stay an extra night just a reminder that the hotel is honoring our rate for the 2nd night. Ā  The dinner social is the 16th at the Creek.

šŸ•¦Up & ComingšŸ•¦- May 16 & 17 is the ride to Alpine and the Devils Highway.Ā  We will go up through Payson and over to Alpine. If you are booking hotel it is best to call as that is the only way they book rooms.Ā  We will have the option to do the Catwalk.

āš ļøSafetyāš ļø - Chuck joined to speak with us about safety.Ā  Be careful, there are alot of extra riders in the area, drinking, driving fast, and not familiar with our roads.

Freeway riding with a group.Ā  When entering the freeway we should go single file.Ā  The signal should come from the ride captain.Ā  As we enter and merge you are responsible for yourself.Ā  Please merge safely and how you feel comfortable.Ā  The ride captain will get the the open lane to the far left and then go the speed limit to let the group catch up. We should try to avoid the HOV lane if possible as we ride a set speed.Ā  The reason there is a lot of people like to go 85+ in the lane and are flying around us and cutting us off. Ā  It is best to try and avoid this first safety.

Guest Nitro and Rembrandt from BACA - Bikers against child abuse.Ā  We fight against abusers.Ā  Abusers are typically friends if the family or family members.Ā  If you haven’t heard the story of Emily Pike it is a sad example.Ā  Ā

BMMC passed the coin to fill it with love and strength so it can be given to a child when they go to court.Ā  They go with them to court also to help them have the confidence to face their abuser.Ā  The group also gives them a shirt, a backpack, a blanket, and a cut with their biker name on it. Ā  The kids also get assigned 2 primaries where the child can call them anytime for help.Ā  Funds raised help is with the gifts for children, therapy for the kids, and summer parties for the kids.
