3rd Saturday of the Month Ride for December 2011

Tortilla Flat Ride Review & Slideshow

Saturday, December 17th, 2011

The last BMMC event of 2011 was our 3rd Saturday of the month ride to Tortilla Flat.  On Saturday morning, December 17th, Ride Hosts, Chuck Knight and Ed Graham welcomed 45 members and 33 motorcycles for their ride to Tortilla Flat.

During the early part of the week prior to the departure date, the weather was looking a little “iffy” with rain in the forecast. Fortunately, the weather moved out until Saturday evening and it was a delightful morning for riding.

The members met at Harold’s parking lot where they enjoyed a complimentary cup of coffee, as they prepared for departure.  Following Chucks, pre-ride briefing, the riders divided into two riding groups and headed toward Tortilla Flat.  Following a brief stop, at the Chevron Ft. McDowell Station, where they picked up some additional riders, the groups were back on the road again.

The riders enjoyed a beautiful ride through the twisties to Tortilla Flat where they got off the bikes and took a short break before traveling back down the hill to the Goldfield Ghost Town.

Upon their arrival at the Mammoth Steak House, they were greeted by the friendly staff as they placed their orders for a delicious lunch on the patio picnic tables at the restaurant.  Following a delightful lunch, some members headed back towards Phoenix, while others spent some time touring the ghost town and enjoying the western gun fights and shoot outs.

All of the participants would like to thank Chuck & Ed for planning and hosting this superb December ride and lunch.  The 2011 Tortilla Flat Ride now holds the record as our largest attended December 3rd Saturday Ride.  Thanks to Chuck & Ed and all of their hard work, the 2011 Rides & Events Calendar finished off the year with a Winner.

In addition, we would like to thank our Ride Captain Group for leading and sweeping our pre-assigned riding groups, and to Roddy Levy, Mike Wiz, and Bill Diem for providing the great pictures for our slideshow.
