Spring 2008 St. Mary's Food Drive               

Recently, Mike Lipsky was listening to a radio interview with Terry Shannon, President & CEO of St. Mary's Food Bank, who was commenting on how low their food supplies were this Spring.  That's when the Mike & Carol Lipsky and Bob and Lori Kollas decided to team up and do something about this need.  More than any other organization, St. Mary's Food Bank has made a real impact on providing food for the needy in the Valley. 

They quickly contacted Ron & Vickie to get their go ahead to conduct this food drive and an announcement was quickly designed and went up on the club website followed by one of Ron's famous "Email Blasts" to the membership.

Mike stated their goal was to fill the back of his pickup.  Well, the Black Mountain Family opened up their hearts and food pantries and check books and exceed the Lipsky's and Kollas expectations.  See the photos below.  In addition to the generous supply of food, members contributed $300 to St. Mary's Food Bank.

Immediately after the meeting BMMC's generous food donation was taken to the closest food collection point on Hayden Road.  Afterwards, Mike sent and email to St. Mary's as follow-up reporting on their food drive success.

Many thanks to Mike, Carol, Bob & Lori for hearing this need and really doing something about it.  And Thank You to all of our BMMC members who graciously responded and filled up two vehicles.

The Lipsky's and Kollas' are thinking of making the Spring Food Drive an annual event in addition to the "Toys For Tots" drive they organize before the Christmas Season.  What a great idea!
