Saturday morning, September 20, 2008, seventy-six BMMC members on forty-two motorcycles gathered in Fountain Hills for an overnighter in Williams, Arizona.

Ride hosts, Pam Donner/ Glenn Murray, and Don & Judy Walton planned a fabulous ride to Williams, and an evening of partying on Old Route #66. It was a beautiful cool ride, and definitely paradise motorcycling riding weather.

Ride Host, Glenn Murray gave his Pre-ride Briefing and Ride Group selections were made with the first group departing at 8:30 a.m.

The members had a leisurely ride to Payson, where they had their first rest/gas stop. They then continued on to Flagstaff to The Roadhouse for lunch. The Roadhouse is a large restaurant/bar/patio/hotrod shop that boasts “Grill your Own” burgers, and dogs. . The members had fun having their turn at the grill, some with maybe just a little more experience than others.

Following lunch, Ride Hosts, Glenn Murray and Don Walton lead an optional extended ride to Seligman for those who wanted to explore more of the nostalgia famous Route #66. For the members whose preference was to travel directly to Williams following lunch, it was only a twenty-mile ride to the hotel.

The ride hosts had chosen the perfect hotel accommodations that were very charming and located across the street from one another. Hosts, Pam and Judy had set up early refreshments in the covered Gazebo at The Lodge. After members unloaded their bikes, they gathered and kicked back and got caught up in some great conversations and met new friends.

Soon it was time to get ready for the club sponsored cocktail party that the hosts had planned at the Grand Canyon Brewery, which was a very easy walk from the hotel. Upon arriving at the Brewery, members were presented with a keepsake of a very neat Route 66 BMMC patch (see patch above - click on it for slide show), their refreshment tickets, and of course the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets. Member Dan Wood was definitely on a roll and won two of the three draws, and Jim Whiting picked up the third. Congratulations gentlemen!

The hosts had made arrangements for a very large assortment of Hors d’oeuvres, everything from hot-wings, barbecue-wings, poppers, onion rings, cheese & cracker trays, vegetable trays, fresh fruit, and more. Who says, BMMC members do not have very hearty appetites!!!!!

It was just the perfect evening for BMMC members, socializing, meeting new friends, an abundance of great food and refreshments, not to mention some of the “pool sharks” that were quite competitive with one another. Some of the members did pursue some dinner reservations, while others had cravings for dessert or ice cream.

Remember, the Gazebo, well many of the members gathered back in the Gazebo and continued the party. There were lots of conversations about the beautiful ride and the fun evening. As the temperature dropped and the evening grew late, the tired but happy members headed to their rooms. Everyone was up early for hot coffee and a delightful assortment of breakfast goodies served in the Gazebo. The members gathered in small groups for their return to the valley.

We would like to sincerely thank our ride hosts, Pam, Glenn, Don and Judy for planning an absolutely fantastic ride. They delivered a beautiful route, scouted out the best hotels, planned a great hospitality party at a really fun location and to absolutely make sure that everything was perfect for us pre-rode this event “two times.” Outstanding and nicely done guys!

In addition, we also would like to thank our Ride Captains that lead and swept our groups. Also, thanks to Ray Williams, Glenn Murray, Jan House and Sharon Harris for taking photos of this very fun ride.
