Laughlin Party Event Review
Ride hosts, Jim & Michelle Boomer, and Todd & Peggy Gerber planned a fantastic two night ride for our enjoyment. The first night would be in Williams, and the second night in Laughlin. About a week prior to our April 8th departure, the weather forecast was rapidly deteriorating for Williams and Laughlin.
The forecast for Williams was a low temperature of 18 degrees and snow. The Laughlin area was forecasting light rain. Due to the unfavorable riding conditions, the hosts made the decision to cancel the first leg of the ride to Williams and encouraged the participants to travel to Laughlin for a Saturday night party.
The club was under a contractual agreement for 70 people at the Aquarius Hotel in Laughlin for our Saturday night club sponsored cocktail party and dinner. The participating members rallied behind the hosts, and the club and 63 members’ traveled to Laughlin for the event.
A number of members did ride their motorcycles to Laughlin, some on Friday, and others on Saturday morning. A number of members drove their cars and Tom Clements and Jim Moore flew Tom’s plane to Laughlin.
Due to the inclement weather the Aquarius had moved our function inside to a delightful banquet room. The guests were welcomed by the hosts, given the opportunity to purchase 50/50 Raffle tickets, and directed to the bar to begin the evening activities. Everyone enjoyed a festive cocktail party, and a club sponsored hearty delicious Italian Buffet Dinner.
Following dinner, Todd Gerber called out the winning numbers for the evening’s 50/50 Raffle. In gratitude for the members support, 100% of the raffle money was given away to three lucky winners.
As the dinner event came to a close, the happy members continued the party in the hotel casino. A large group of BMMC folks were spotted at the crap tables, while others were seated at blackjack, and scattered throughout the casino playing their favorite slot machines.
Even with the late hour in the casino, the members were up early to enjoy breakfast prior to their open return back to Phoenix. The weather was clear and beautiful; however, there was definitely a chill in the air as the riders headed through Kingman and home.
All of the participants would like to thank ride hosts, Jim & Michelle Boomer, and Todd & Peggy Gerber for planning and hosting this fun Saturday overnighter. The hosts are to be commended for their excellent handling of the Williams leg cancellation and pulling everything together for the Saturday night event. Great job guys and gals.
The hosts and the club Officers and Directors would like to sincerely thank all 63 of the BMMC members who rallied and supported the revised event. One thing you can never plan for is the “weather”, and all of you helped to turn this into A VERY SUCCESSFUL EVENT!!
Our sincere thanks to Jim Boomer, Bill Diem, Marcia Henderson, and Liz Jones for providing the great photos of the event for our fun slideshow review.
