Gold King Mine & Ghost Town Ride Review & Slideshow

3rd Saturday Ride for September

On Saturday, September 17th, 52 members on 36 motorcycles joined Ride Host, Gene & Jeannie Adee for a fun ride to the Gold King Mine & Ghost Town in Jerome.

Gene divided the members into three pre-assigned riding groups and they departed for the first leg of the ride to Cottonwood for a group lunch at Murphy’s Grill.  Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch and when the announcement was made that the club would be picking up the lunch tab for the entire group, everyone was really in good spirits.

Following lunch, it was time to get back on the bikes for a short ride up the hill through Jerome and onto the Gold King Mine & Ghost Town.  As the members arrived at the Ghost Town entrance, they were not sure what to expect inside.  As they entered the Gold King Mine, they found acres and acres of all types and ages of vehicles and machinery.  There were unbelievable collections of  cars, trucks, buses, gas tankers, fire trucks and on and on.  Also, included in the collection were a number of antique motorcycles scattered about the area.

Most all of the vehicles and equipment were in running order, and to the delight of the members, especially the guys, the owner and curator, Don Robertson started up a number of the vehicles and machines for our pleasure.  The members explored the massive collection of antiques, and in most cases stayed longer than expected as around each corner, there was something new and different to see and explore.

The members then made their way toward the parking lot and gathered in small groups for the open return ride home.  All of the participating members would like to thank Gene & Jeannie for planning and hosting this fun ride, lunch and Gold Mine Tour.  Thanks guys, it was great fun!

This was a very unusual ride for Gene as he and Jeannie were in their Porsche instead of riding the big black Harley.  Following his return from the Hoka Hey Ride, Gene loaded his bike into a container for shipment to Israel where he will join up with additional riders in November for a riding tour in Israel.
