We’ve all heard the saying “The third time is a charm”, well thanks to ride hosts Tom Clements and Rick Rodau for proving that to be true with the October 18th, 3rd Saturday Ride.

The initial calendar ride was to travel to the La Posada Hotel in Winslow for an overnighter, however, due to logistical problems with the hotel accommodating our group, it was necessary to cancel that ride. Then an alternative option was offered to Laughlin, Nevada, however, due to the lack of participation that ride also needed to be cancelled.

Finally, the magical third option was offered, a Lunch Ride to Christopher Creek, and bingo, it was a charm! Black Mountain Motorcycle Club had an amazing sixty-five members sign up for this great ride, which is an extraordinary number of participants for a 3rd Saturday Ride.

On Saturday, October 18th, sixty-five very enthusiastic BMMC members on fifty motorcycles joined Ride Hosts, Tom Clements and Rick Rodau for a very scenic and fun ride to Christopher Creek.

It was a glorious Arizona morning and members were looking forward to the cooler riding temperatures that had been forecasted for the Payson and Christopher Creek areas.

Ride Host, Rick Rodau gave a very thorough pre-ride briefing, and upon conclusion of his briefing, asked the members to divide into one of four groups with their respective ride captains leading and sweeping. Rick also advised the group that BMMC would be picking up the lunch cost for everyone, (another surprise perk)!

Tom and Rick had arranged for lunch at the Creekside Steakhouse in Christopher Creek. They had made a menu available for the member’s selection prior to the ride, so that the staff could handle the very large group efficiently and in a timely manner.

Upon our arrival at the Creekside Steakhouse, the staff was more than prepared for us, and orders were flying out of the kitchen. After a great lunch some members retraced the route back to Phoenix, while others opted to enjoy a longer afternoon ride through Jake’s Corner, around Roosevelt Lake to Globe and back into Phoenix. In addition, there were some members who chose to do an overnighter in Show Low.

We sincerely want to thank Ride Hosts, Tom Clements and Rick Rodau for planning and arranging this delightful fun scenic ride. Tom & Rick rallied to the cause and rescued the October 3rd Saturday Ride on very short notice. Also, we would like to thank Ray Williams for his assistance with the response/menu selection forms on the club website, and of course, the great photos. A very special thanks to all of our Ride Captains for getting us there safely!
