BMMC 2011 Annual Poker Run Ride Review

 On Saturday morning, March 19^th, 2011, one-hundred & eleven excited members, and guests met at Harold’s in Cave Creek for the Annual BMMC Poker Run. 

 Ride hosts, John Logsdon, and Bob Handelman greeted the members and directed them to purchase their poker hands for the day’s event.  Each member received a lunch ticket with their hand, redeemable for lunch at the Circle Bar Steakhouse in Bagdad.   

 After purchasing their hands and receiving their lunch tickets from Jacqui O’Hara, they drew their first of five cards from Lynne Whitcomb and Bob Handelman.  The members enjoyed a cup of complimentary coffee from Harold’s, and then headed out in small groups for their second stop at the Road Runner Restaurant.  They were welcomed by committee members, Tim & Martha Troy, and drew their second card of the morning. 

 No time to waste as the groups departed for Wickenburg and their 3^rd card draw stop.  Todd & Peggy Gerber hosted the stop and assisted the members with their 3^rd card draw.  Some of the hands were starting to show promise, while others did not offer much hope as the members departed for Peeples Valley and their 4^th card draw. 

 Committee members, Jim & Michelle Boomer greeted the riders and offered them their 4^th card draw.  After topping off their tanks, and grabbing a quick snack at the Mountainaire Station, the members headed out for their last leg of the ride, and a beautiful ride on CR15 to Bagdad.  As they arrived at the Circle Bar Steakhouse, committee member, Lynne Whitcomb presented their last card draw, and the opportunity to make or break their winning hands.   

As the winning hands were being tallied, the members and guests enjoyed a delightful lunch offering of a delicious hamburger, or chicken sandwich, complete with all the fixings, baked beans, and a heaping serving of Bagdad potato salad.   

When the scoring was complete, Ron welcomed everyone and thanked the hosts and the committee, and then Vickie announced the 2011 Poker Run Winners.  This year’s Poker Pot was a whopping $2,060.  The club treasury received $1,030 and the balance was split with the three winners.   

High hand winner was Jim Bowen, who went home with $515.00.   

Second highest hand went to Chazz DePape, who received $309.00. 

Low hand was awarded to Bruce Black, who collected $206.00. 

Host, John Logsdon had secured a number of items from various local motorcycle shops in the area, and they were awarded to the next highest hands in descending order.  BMMC would like to thank the following businesses for their contributions.

Following the distribution of the prizes, the members again gathered into their groups and headed home.  Everyone left Bagdad feeling like a winner as they had enjoyed a beautiful ride, a delicious lunch, a fun poker run and the camaraderie of good friends.  It was a great day!   

The participating members would like to thank Ride Host, John Logsdon, and Bob Handelman for planning this fun event.  The route was scenic and enjoyable, and the Bagdad destination was perfect.
