COPPER MINE LOOP RIDE REVIEW

On Sunday, October 17th, 36 bikes and 49 riders and passengers met at the Fountain Hills Target parking lot for the 3rd Annual Copper Mine Loop Ride. The weather was perfect as the three groups led by our “fearless ride captains” set out on Highway

# 87 past Saguaro Lake and over Usery Pass to US 60 and on to Superior.

Each group stopped in Superior where the EastSide Performance trailer and club member Steve Pressler were waiting for us with cookies and refreshments!  A short ride up the road and a right turn on Highway # 177 took us past the Asarco open pit mine and through the towns of Kearny and Winkleman, with the trailer running sweep for any mechanical casualties, (yes, there was one).

A bio gas stop was made in Winkleman and then up the hill to the Globe turnoff.  The group met at the Apache Gold Casino where the food and beverage manager, Julie, had the Apache Legends restaurant set up for our club members.  Unlike most casino areas, this restaurant was devoid of smoke and noise and a welcome pit stop for the hungry riders.  With Bar-B-Que the specialty, members sat down to talk and stuff their faces with pulled pork and other good food.  After lunch the group took separate routes back to the valley, enjoying what turned out to be perfect weather.

Hosts Pam and TJ Jackson thank everyone who attended and hope to see you for next year’s ride.
