It was an absolutely glorious Arizona evening as members gathered for the 2nd annual Corned Beef & Cabbage Feast at the lovely Legend Trails Community Center. One hundred BMMC members were greeted and welcomed by Michelle Boomer & Nancy Logsdon, and were given their name badges and St. Patrick’s Day keepsake.

As the members entered the room they could clearly smell the wonderful aromas of the succulent corned beef cooking. The guests gathered on the patio to check out how the corned beef was coming along and to get the cocktail party under way. It was amazing to see the organization of the hosts, Alan Wagener and Lynne Whitcomb, Ray & Sally Williams and their committee. All were confident, calm and everything was right on track, no problem feeding this hungry anxious group of one hundred members.

It was a very fun and festive cocktail party, complete with wine bar, and a variety of cold beer. The guests enjoyed socializing and the opportunity to visit with old friends and make some new ones.

As scheduled, at 7:00 the members were asked to come inside and be seated. Ron Small welcomed everyone and thanked the hosts and their committee for an incredible job of planning and executing such a festive party. Sally Williams then ask everyone to hold hands as she gave a loving inspirational toast.

Upon completion of Sally’s toast, the members were then invited to the buffet tables to enjoy the “All You Can Eat Corned Beef & Cabbage Feast.” Accompanying the corned beef and cabbage were new red potatoes, turnips, rutabagas, parsnips, carrots & onions not to mention a wonderful homemade condiment of horseradish. Also, a delicious Caesar salad was served, and, home made rolls baked by Christian Belzunce.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the delightful dinner and a number of people were seen returning to the buffet tables for seconds. When the hosts announced that desserts were being served, it was evident that the members still had room for the sweet stuff, as they quickly lined up to enjoy the vast assortment of decadent desserts. Members had their choices of incredible home made apple Danish, (baked by Christian Belzunce), key-lime cheese cakes, double chocolate cake, carrot cake, strawberry and blueberry cheesecakes, chocolate pies, and an assortment of cookies. Yum Yum!

Following dinner and dessert, the tables were moved backed and the members gathered on the dance floor to enjoy the music of Omar Mondragon. While some danced to Omar’s great music, others took the opportunity to kick back and visit with good friends.

As the members were dancing and visiting, the hosts and hard working committee were behind the scenes, cleaning up. We know that you can all appreciate the amount of work it takes to clean up after cooking dinner for one hundred people.  All of the participants would like to extend a very special thanks to our hosts, Alan Wagener and Lynne Whitcomb, and Ray & Sally Williams for planning and executing this outstanding event. Thank you so much for this most memorable and fun evening.

We would also like to thank the following committee members for their many contributions. Thank you, “YOU ARE APPRECIATED”
