|
On Saturday, November 1st, hosts,
Ray and Sally Williams and their committee presented the
4th Annual Lynn & Gerry Snodgres Memorial Lobster Boil
Extravaganza. Ray and Sally and their committee greeted one-hundred twenty-one participants at the lovely Legend Trails Community Center. It was a glorious Arizona evening, and as the excited members arrived, they were given their name tags, and asked to choose a special Lobster Boil Button Pin from a treasure chest in hopes of receiving a Lobster Boil Surprise that would be presented later in the evening. The members gathered on the outside patio for a very festive happy hour, and had fun socializing with old friends and making new friends. Laughter and conversations were in full swing, and who would have thought that the weather could have been so perfect on a November evening. While the members enjoyed the festive cocktail party, the hard working Lobster Boil Committee members were busy behind the scenes preparing the delicious dinner. The fresh lobsters were in the pots, fresh corn had been shucked and was cooking, and new red potatoes were boiling. While the guys were attending to the outside cooking, the ladies were busy in the kitchen preparing a delicious Caesar salad and all the last minute condiments. Soon, hosts Ray and Sally invited their guests inside to be seated, and Ron Small greeted the members and explained how the Lynn and Gerry Snodgres Lobster Boil Extravaganza was originated. Then, host, Sally Williams greeted their guests, and gave her very inspirational toast. Dinner time was then announced, and the members were invited to start lining up for the delicious Lobster Boil feast. They loaded their plates with salad, fresh corn on the cob, new red potatoes, and an assortment of delicious homemade rolls, baked by member, Christian Belzunce. They were then served a huge (1 ½ # Maine Lobster) that was bigger than their plate. The members were amazed at how fast Ray and Sally and their committee served one-hundred twenty-one attendees. Two serving tables were used and the entire group was sitting down and eating in under fifteen minutes. It was a noisy group as everyone was having fun devouring their lobsters. There seemed to be at least one or two experts at each table who helped the novices on the proper way to eat a lobster. Everyone mutually agreed that these were the best tasting lobsters that they had ever eaten, very sweet and tender! Prior to announcing the decadent assortment of desserts, Ron announced that Jim Boomer was celebrating his birthday, and everyone sang Happy Birthday to him as he was served his favorite dessert, “a huge carrot cake”, complete with candles and a fun card. Ron then announced the Lobster Boil Surprise. Three lucky members would receive $200 each. On the back of each member’s Lobster Boil Button Pin was a number. The winning numbers were drawn and lucky members, Terry Lynch, Susan Handelman and Mo Stramaglio walked away as the winners. Dessert was then announced, and the members rushed to the serving tables and helped themselves to a delicious assortment of desserts, including homemade tarts, and a wonderful assortment of cakes, pies, and cookies. As soon as the desserts were cleaned up, the tables were pulled back and the very high-spirited members began dancing to the music of our DJ. They danced and danced and danced! It was an amazing magical evening, everyone connecting, and having a wonderful time. All too soon, it was time for the last dance to be played, and as they always say, “all good things have to come to and end.” As the members were departing, everyone was saying what a special evening it was, and how much they had enjoyed the Lobster Boil Extravaganza! You could clearly feel the closeness of good friends as they said good night to each other and headed home with memories of a wonderful magical evening. The members would like to thank event hosts, Ray and Sally Williams for delivering this spectacular magical event. Together with their devoted hard working committee they delivered one of the best Lobster Boil Extravaganzas to date.
