Saturday
December 1st members of the Black Mountain Motorcycle Club
collected toys for Toys for Tots, food and cash donations
for St Mary’s/Westside Food Bank, and Foothills Food Bank.
After the meeting on Saturday, Bob and Lori Kollas, along
with George Jordon and John Logsdon, delivered the truck
full of toys to Fire Station #614 located at 27777 N. Alma
School. The station had been notified earlier in the week
that the large donation was coming. They were thrilled
with the size of the donation. They were also presented
with a check for $50 for Toys for Tots. It should help
make for many smiling faces on children in the valley.
Firefighters at the station to receive the donations were
Capt. Jan Shank, Steve Springborn, and Steve Angulo.
On Monday Bob and I delivered approximately 550 lbs of
food to the Foothills Food Bank and Resource Center
located at 7005 E Cave Creek Road. They are a local food
bank that has been in existence since 1988. They serve the
areas of Cave Creek, Carefree, and New River. They are the
only food bank in the state that provides fresh meat.
They, too, were thrilled with the generous donation from
our club. Volunteer Janet Kennedy was there to receive our
donation.
When we returned home we put checks in the mail totaling
$400 to St Mary‘s/Westside Food Bank.
To summarize the club collected:
1.
One pickup truck load of toys for Toys for Tots plus a
check for $50.00.
2.
One pickup load of about 550 lbs of non perishable items
to the Foothills Food bank.
3.
$400 in cash donations to St. Mary’s/Westside Food Bank.
Bob and I are very proud to be members of such a generous
and caring organization and are also proud to be chairing
this wonderful event.
